What is Case Study?

A case study is a research method that includes a detailed examination of a study subject. It’s considered that Frederic Le Play was the first person who introduced the case-study method into a social science in 1829.

There are three types of case studies:

  • Linear
  • Process-oriented
  • Grounded

These types of case studies include the following:

  • Illustrative case studies.
  • Exploratory case studies.
  • Cumulative case studies.
  • Critical instance case studies.
