Home Page Editor Blocks

The Home page editor is currently in the beta stage; the functionality is subject to change and will be continuously improved.

The Home page editor in ClickHelp follows a "building block" approach, similar to what you see in the Block-based Topic Editor. Each content piece is a separate block that can be added, moved, and edited individually. This topic gives an overview of the blocks, their functions, and provides useful usage tips.

The blocks are categorized into different sections:

Headings

Use headings to organize your Home page and establish a distinct structure.

The Headings section of the insert block list.

  • Heading 1. Main heading used as the Home page title.
  • Heading 2. Subheading for important sections on the Home page.
  • Heading 3. Additional headings to structure the Home page content.

Text

Key elements for creating general content.

  • Bulleted List: Unordered list used for key points or items without a specific order.
  • Numbered List: Ordered list used for sequential steps or ranked items.
  • Paragraph: The primary text block for describing features, benefits, or other content on the Home page. It's the default block; just start typing on a new line to create a paragraph.

Content

The main blocks designed to present key information and guide visitors towards important topics and publications of the portal.

  • Cards list. A visually appealing grid of cards, each linked to a specific topic or publication.
Unlike the Publication list, the links are assigned manually to each card.

  • Publication list. An automatically generated grid of publication links available for the current reader in the form of separate cards.
The list of available publications may be different for anonymous readers and authenticated Power Readers; this is taken into account by the list generation logic.

  • Hero banner. A prominent section at the top of the Home page, often featuring a Home page title, search bar, and a large image in the background.

  • Text and media. Two-columns block with text on one side and an image or video on the other.

Advanced

The blocks with advanced functionality, which cannot be found in other blocks. Currently, only one block type is available in this section.

The Advanced section of the insert block list.

  • Custom HTML. Allows you to add a special block on your Home page where you can provide your custom HTML markup.

Layout

The elements with specific structures that allow the arrangement of content on the Home page, ensuring a visually appealing and user-friendly experience.

The Layout section of the insert block list.

  • Columns. A block, divided into two or three columns by your choice, that allows for a flexible arrangement of rich-text content.
  • Footer. A well-known section at the bottom of the Home page that usually contains copyright information, contact details, links to important pages, and other supplementary information. Can be presented as a single field or divided into two or three columns.
If there is a gap between the footer and other content, the footer will be shown at the bottom.
Since the Home page editor is in the beta stage, the list of available blocks is subject to change without prior notice.
