Block-Based Topic Editor Blocks

The Block-based Topic Editor is currently in the beta stage; the functionality is subject to change and will be continuously improved.

The Block-based Topic Editor in ClickHelp uses a "building block" approach, where each piece of content is a distinct block that you can add, rearrange, and edit independently. This topic provides an overview of the available blocks, along with their functions and some helpful tips for usage.

For your convenience, the blocks are divided into several categories:

Headings

Use headings to structure your document and create a clear hierarchy.

The Headings section of the insert block list.

  • Heading 1. Top-level heading, typically used for the main topic title.
By default, ClickHelp automatically generates Heading 1 headings based on topic titles for your published topics. If you follow this default approach, placing additional Heading 1 headings in topic content is not recommended by SEO best practices.
  • Heading 2. Second-level heading for key sections.
  • Heading 3. Subheadings within sections to organize content further.

Basic Blocks

The Basic Blocks section of the insert block list.

Essential blocks for general content creation.

  • Numbered List. Ordered lists for steps or ranked items.
  • Bullet List. Unordered lists for key points or items without a particular order.
  • Paragraph. The main block for body text, where you write the core content. It is a default block, you don't need to add it explicitly—just start typing on a new line and it will become a paragraph automatically.

Advanced

Specialized blocks for more complex content.

The Advanced section of the insert block list.

  • Table. A basic table block with editable cells. Ideal for presenting structured data.
At the moment, the table cells' content supports only simple formatting, like bold or italic, and linking. More functionality may be added in future updates.

Media

Enhance your content with visual elements.

The Media section of the insert block list.

  • Image. Add images with resizing options and captions to illustrate your content.
  • Video. Embed videos with caption support, allowing for multimedia integration.

At the moment, the Video block functionality is limited:

    • No online video support, only videos from the Storage.
    • Only MP4 and WEBM formats are supported.

Others

Additional elements to enrich content and user engagement.

The Others section of the insert block list.

  • Emoji. Insert emojis to add personality or highlight key points within the text.
Since the Block-based Topic Editor is in the beta stage, the list of available blocks is subject to change without prior notice.
