ClickHelp User Manual

Watchers

In ClickHelp, you can watch any topic — or any project — to stay informed about changes and modifications throughout its whole lifecycle without getting directly involved as an owner or an assignee. By becoming a Watcher of a topic, you opt to receive notifications about events related to the topic or a translation document, like content or status changes.

Open watchers menu.

In addition, you can add other Contributors as watchers to topics and control your watcher status for multiple topics at once.

Only users with access to the project can be added as Watchers.

When a User Becomes a Topic Watcher?

Here's the list of scenarios where a user is added as a watcher to a topic:

  • The user adds themself as the watcher.
  • The user is added as a watcher by somebody else.
  • The user creates a topic.
  • The user creates, edits, resolves, or deletes a Review Comment in a topic.
  • The user creates or edits a ToDo item in a topic.
  • The user modifies the topic content.
  • The user is @mentioned in a Review Comment.
  • When a project is duplicated, the user will be the Watcher of all the topics they were watching in the original.

Once the user becomes a Watcher, they start receiving notifications.

Project Watchers

You can watch not only individual topics but whole projects.

Option to watch a whole project.

When a Contributor watches a project, they are considered a watcher of all topics of the project. Therefore, they will receive notifications about the content/status changes for all topics/translation documents of the project — according to their notification settings.

In addition to this, contributors will receive notifications when new topics or translation documents are created in the project they watch.

Unlike topic watchers, you cannot add or remove other users as project watchers.

There are a couple of particularities of the project watcher functionality to keep in mind:

  • When a Contributor watches a project, they cannot stop watching a specific topic in this project. They need to stop watching the entire project first.
  • If a Contributor is watching individual topics and then starts watching the entire project, stopping watching the project will not affect their original topic watching list.
