A technical standard is a formal document that establishes requirements in regard to technical systems. It can include uniform technical or engineering criteria, processes, practices, methods, and the like.
Technical standards may exist as:
- Public documents, so anybody on the Internet can read them.
- Private documents owned by an organization; only members of the organization can read them.
- Controlled documents that contain classified information.
All these types of standards can be created and stored by means of a help authoring tool that allows content creators to password protect documents.
