CHM is an Online help format, also known as Microsoft Compiled HTML Help. Unlike the older HLP format, it is based on HTML – it can use images, CSS and JavaScript as a part of the content.
HTML Help 1.0 was released in 1997. Version 1.4 was released by Microsoft in 2006.
