Single-Sourcing with AI: From Repeated Text to Reusable Snippets

AI makes documentation faster to write, but it rarely writes the same thing the same way twice. In this session we take a ClickHelp project full of repeated content and hand the cleanup to an AI assistant connected through MCP: it finds the duplicated passages, turns them into snippets and works with variables for different product versions. Nothing to install, nothing to prepare, no account needed.

What you’ll see

Here’s what we go through:

  • Why single-sourcing still matters with AI. AI speeds up drafting, but it phrases the same idea a little differently each time. Snippets and variables keep wording identical wherever it appears.
  • How single-sourcing works in ClickHelp. Write a paragraph once and pull it into as many topics as you need. Change the source, and every place that uses it changes with it.
  • Turning copy-paste into snippets with AI. An AI assistant connected to ClickHelp through MCP goes through the project, finds repeated passages, creates snippets in a dedicated Snippets folder and replaces the copies in each topic.
  • Working with variables using AI. Use AI to put variables to work for information that changes between releases, such as product versions, so one update covers the whole project.

Who should attend

It’s usually useful if you’re:

  • A technical communicator who drafts with AI and keeps finding three versions of the same instruction, or who is tired of copy-pasting one paragraph into fifteen topics.
  • A documentation lead looking for a way to keep AI-assisted content consistent across products and versions.
  • Anyone exploring MCP for documentation who wants to see a concrete use case: an AI assistant doing real editing work inside a help authoring tool, not just answering questions.

How it works

  • Joining. Click the link, and that’s it. Nothing to install, no account to create, and you can leave whenever you’ve seen enough.
  • Asking. Drop a question in the chat at any point and we’ll answer it live, anonymously if you prefer. Or just listen.
  • If you miss it. We don’t record the sessions, but they run every week, so there’s always a next one. If Thursdays never work for you, book a private session at a time that does.
